September 11th 2016, the anniversary of a dreadful day in the history of our great country and a day that will also mark a great tragedy in my own life as this was the day that I was unfortunate enough to get in contact with one Ms. Tonya Miller of MySierraHomes.com (Eastern Sierra Realty).
My contact with Tonya Miller was for acquiring a unit in Bishop Plaza, which is located in Bishop, California. The unit was supposed to be acquired on a lease basis via Tonya's company. She was incredibly eager to speak to us and was even more eager to get the deal done quickly. We initially assumed that Tonya being enthusiastic was just her being a real estate agent (since agents are known for their eagerness) but we later learned that this was not the case.
Tonya Miller promised us that we would get our unit after we signed the lease documents and paid the amount (well into six figures) that was required for the lease to be finalized. We agreed because the price that we were being quoted by Eastern Sierra Realty and Tonya Miller was at least 10-15% lower than almost everything else in the area that had been offered to us previously.
A reader might think of the old adage... if it's too good to be true it probably is... and it really was. We were gullible enough to believe in Tonya Miller and MySierraHomes.com and paid for it dearly. The unit we were supposed to be taking had a new occupant two weeks after our payment to Tonya Miller's company. Upon asking Tonya who these people were and why had they moved to our unit, Tonya Miller told us that they were former clients of Eastern Sierra Realty who had to be displaced and were thus given this unit.
Tonya Miller assured us that we would be given another unit soon since one was allegedly becoming available in the next four weeks. Since we had already paid the money, we reluctantly agreed and trusted Tonya Miller once again.
The four weeks were supposed to be up in December 2016 and it is September 2017 as we write this.
We never got our unit, the promised unit or any other unit in Bishop Plaza. Upon examining the lease documents, we were able to determined that the lease was a bogus lease and a fraud. Eastern Sierra Realty had scammed us out of a LOT of money and we were in no position to get it back anymore.
Repeated calls and emails to Tonya Miller and her associates remained unanswered. If we ever got a response, it was shoddy and filled with random excuses. We know our money is not coming back and we know that Tonya Miller has probably spent it all by this point.
While we explore our options for legal recourse, we feel like it's our duty to share our traumatic experience with the world just to let everyone know what a scoundrel of a company Eastern Sierra Realty is and what a wretched person Tonya Miller is. Please don't fall for this scam.
